APP June Update: Rawdon honored for excellence

Leah Rawdon, CNP

Leah Rawdon, CNP, is the 2017 recipient of our Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Award for Excellence in Practice. Leah, who works in the Hospital Medicine department on our Akron campus, was nominated by pediatric hospitalists Corrie Stofcho and Wendy Van Ittersum.

The APP Award for Excellence in Practice was developed last year to recognize the exemplary patient care, teaching, leadership and advocacy efforts of our advanced practice providers. Recipients are nominated by their peers or supervisors.

The examples of excellence cited in Leah’s nomination included her work on the Safe Sleep Committee and as an advocate for safe sleep, her role in developing a pre-op surgical clearance/optimization clinic and in standardizing pre- and post-op care for adolescent scoliosis patients.

Leah has been involved in the education of other advanced practice providers as a regular preceptor, APP CME coordinator and APP Boot Camp instructor. She is a Doctor of Nursing Practice student and is leading the American Academy of Pediatrics’ APP subsection for Hospital Medicine.
