Akron Children’s venous lead tests remain valid

On May 17 the FDA and CDC gave notice that venous lead tests from the Magellan Diagnostics’ LeadCare® analyzers (LeadCare, LeadCare II, LeadCare Ultra and LeadCare Plus) are possibly falsely negative.

Akron Children’s Hospital labs do not use this system for venous lead testing. If your venous samples are sent to Akron Children’s, these venous lead tests remain valid.

Parents may have questions about this testing because this information has been distributed to multiple news outlets.

If you use other external labs for venous lead testing, please inquire with that local lab regarding this notice.
