APP May Update: How Ohio House Bill 216 affects all APRNs

Julie Tsirambidis, Director of Advanced Practice

Situation: On April 6, 2017, changes to legislation regarding APRN licensure and renewal will take effect as a result of Ohio House Bill 216. These changes affect all advanced practice registered nurses (CNP, CNS, CNM, CRNA).

Background: As an APRN in Ohio, it’s your responsibility to keep all licensure and certifications up-to-date in accordance with state law.  Failure to do so may result in loss of licensure and the inability to practice.

Assessment: The Akron Children’s Hospital Advanced Practice Center has created a TALEO Learn module with updates on HB 216 that affect your practice, licensure, prescriptive authority and renewal.

Recommended: The TALEO Learn HB 216 Module is currently available through myKidsnet and is MANDATORY for all APRNs. The deadline to complete this module was May 1, 2016.

To access the module, log-in to TALEO Learn. Select the second tab “My Learning Plans.” Scroll to the bottom under “Self-Assigned Learning Plan Electives” and select “APP – 2017 Licensure Plan HB 216 Update.”
