Tools to support researchers

Research Institute launches online tool for new and experienced investigators

Whether you’re new to research at Akron Children’s Hospital or an experienced investigator, the Rebecca D. Considine Research Center has a new online tool to guide you through the research process and support staff ready to assist.

This comprehensive, step-by-step checklist walks you through everything you need to cover to get your research projects up and running and keep them on-track, including investigator training, study development, completing the IPF form, budget development, grant submission, data and contract management, IRB preparation, study maintenance and completion, dissemination, and every step in between. At each point along the way, new and experienced investigators will also find useful resources and contact information for support staff eager to help you be successful in all your research projects from concept to completion.

Visit the Research Institute on MyKidsNet and click “Investigator Initiated Research Process,” or click here, to get started or learn more.

Are you currently seeking patients for a clinical trial?

The Research Institute can help providers meet enrollment goals by getting open clinical trials published online and promoted. Contact Jennifer Clark (ext. 35296 or jclark2@chmca.org) to begin the process or if you have questions. A list of open clinical studies can be found here.

Going the extra mile for research

The Considine Research Institute thanks these providers for being the first to upload published and/or presented research studies to our new database. Each of the following received an Extra Mile Card and Akron Children’s universal gift card in appreciation of their effort.

  • Joseph Congeni, MD, Director, Sports Medicine
  • Tammy Camelli, NP, Intensive Care
  • John Clark, MD, Director, Pediatric Arrthymia Center
  • Mary Petrea Cober, Pharmacy Clinical Coordinator
  • Jennifer Huth, Plastic Surgery Clinical Coordinator
  • Christopher Liebig, MD, Sports Medicine Physician, Mahoning Valley
  • Michelle Wilson, Nurse Practitioner

The publication and presentation database is an exciting, new addition to the Research Institute. It provides a simple and straightforward way for us to capture research publications and presentations that involve our staff and partners. Those who publish or present research studies are asked to begin adding to this database so we can better communicate all the incredible research happening here at Akron Children’s Hospital.

To access the publication and presentation database, click here. It can also be found on the Research Institute’s MyKidsNet page under Forms and Templates. If you have questions or need assistance, please contact Christine Bradley at ext. 38498 or cbradley@chmca.org.
